Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar Fasciitis

There are a number of causes of heel pain. The most common is fasciitis, a rheumatic illness affecting the fascia, which connects heel bone to toes and supports the arch of your foot.
Symptoms of plantar fasciitis are pain from:
- Walking
- Climbing stairs
- Being on the bed
- Standing/sitting for long periods of time
Several factors contribute to Plantar Fasciitis, such as increased walking, running, physical activities, flat feet, overpronation, and poor arch support. There are several treatment options, and one does not work for all individuals. It is commonly suggested to ice the area, reduce physical activities, and stretch the calf frequently.
Medical doctors often prescribe steroid shots. The pain may subside for a while using this method, but it is not a permanent solution. A chiropractor can help break up the inflammation with laser and soft tissue treatments such as ART or Tecnica Gavilan. A chiropractor can prescribe custom orthotics if the cause is collapsed arches or flat feet. This will not only relieve pain, but also fix the underlying structural problem that led to the injury. This will allow for the body to heal properly and prevent future injury.
